Bush Medijina

Warningakalina women's enterprise handcrafting traditional bush-botanical balms and soaps on Groote Eylandt.

About Bush Medijina

Bush Medijina is an Indigenous-owned, female-led social enterprise founded by Warningakalina women on Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Northern Territory. Growing out of a small bush shed where Elders and young women gathered to pass down generational plant knowledge, Bush Medijina hand-harvests native botanicals from Country, including Dumburumba (native sandalwood), Mamarra (small-leaved paperbark), Mawilyaburna (wild peach), and Linjuwanga (lemongrass), using culturally respectful, seasonal wild-harvesting practices.

Its balms, botanical body butters, clay masks and cold-process soaps are compounded and poured by hand by Warningakalina women on Groote Eylandt and in Darwin, blending traditional bush recipes with organic coconut, macadamia, and olive oils plus pure Australian beeswax.

Sales help support local employment, youth leadership, cultural activities and community wellbeing programmes on Groote Eylandt. The enterprise shares the story of its ingredients and the women who make the products on Country. Their rich Miracle Balm and soothing botanical soaps are stocked across Darwin and shipped nationwide from their Northern Territory studio.
